A Post Thanksgiving Reflection

All of the relatives from out of town have left. The house is quiet again. It’s that bittersweet period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s a time where you miss your relatives but enjoy the solitude you’ve been craving during the long weekend. It’s a time to give thanks.

We all have a beautiful side. We all have an ugly side. We have parts of us that are extremely annoying, as well as parts of us that are endearing. With this in mind, to love and be loved is amazing. It feels wonderful to have people that want to enjoy your company, knowing all of the joy and drama that comes with your presence. There’s nothing to be compared to a loving family. There’s nothing to be compared to lasting friendships.

I entered into this holiday season grieving from a tremendous/unexpected loss. I say that to encourage those who are grieving too. Yet, I also experienced tremendous gain. Every day I wake up, the Lord keeps providing for me. Literally! I am in awe of the timeliness of God’s provision. God never changes, yet He astounds me. God has blessed me with steady income, loved ones to cry and laugh with, peace, and unwavering faith. This holiday season has brought new additions to my family, healing, and lots of smiling. This holiday season has brought me forgiveness, kindness, understanding and compassion.

It’s a beautiful time in my life. Thus, I choose to rejoice in the Lord. Will you rejoice with me? If so, share your own reflections in the comment section below. Need prayer? Leave your requests below or feel free to e-mail them to lovecompassionatelee@yahoo.com.

Psalm 96:1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. 6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice. 13 Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
